UCC Creative Writing – Reading Series

John Banville

You are invited to a public reading by acclaimed author John Banville, in conversation with Dr Eibhear Walsh on April 5th in the Dora Allman Room in the Hub at 6:30pm.  A prolific novelist, Banville’s novel The Sea (2005) won the 2005 Man Booker Prize. In The Sea an elderly art historian loses his wife to cancer and feels compelled to revisit the seaside villa where he spent childhood holidays. His novel The Infinities was published in 2009. He received the Franz Kafka Award in 2011. According to the New York Times, Banville’s latest novel “The Singularities” is an ambitiously referential work that confronts some of humanity’s greatest challenges. John Banville lives in Dublin and was Visiting Professor of Creative Writing at UCC in 2019.
