Things Jazz Gave Me: television documentary and ethnographic fictions

Dr Nicolas Pillai is Assistant Professor of Creative and Critical Practice at University College Dublin. He currently serves as UCD’s academic lead on Creative Futures Academy, a €10 million project funded by the Human Capital Initiative. He is managing editor of Jazz Research Journal and a BBC Four documentary based on his research won Best Music Programme at the 2020 Broadcast Awards. Publications in progress include the edited collection Rethinking Miles Davis (Oxford University Press, forthcoming 2023) and a short play Albert Ayler’s Ghost.
