FUAIM Friday Lunchtime Concert

Áine O’Gorman & Victoria Keating

Singer-songwriters from West Cork

Victoria and Áine are each talented artists in their own right, but together, they create magic. Their voices are spellbinding. They write and sing from the heart, making every live performance a wonderful experience.

The singer-songwriters first came together in March 2017, after the bodies of 796 babies and children were found in a septic tank on the grounds of the Tuam Mother and Baby Home. Victoria and Áine wrote The Poor Ground as a response to this and released it on Irish radio to huge success and impact. Christy Moore called the song “a tour de force.” In demand as songwriters, Áine and Victoria have chosen to write about several subjects close to their hearts: Sweet Bird was written in 2019 for Irish Writers, Artists and Musicians against Fascism, and Becoming, a song for St. Brigid’s Day, was commissioned by Creative Bandon in February 2022, and had its first performance at the inaugural St. Brigid’s Day Festival.

Áine O’Gorman’s debut single Lydia was lauded by Eve Blair of BBC Radio Ulster as “absolutely stunning!” Ryan Freeland, a three-time Grammy Award winning producer said of Lydia, “this is beautiful.” Her single, Desolation, was viewed over 170,000 on Facebook during the first lockdown and her last release, These Empty Rooms, was released last November to a hugely emotional response on both radio and social media.

Victoria Keating has worked with Christy Moore extensively since 2011, providing harmony vocals on five albums. She has toured extensively with Christy and with Declan Sinnott, playing sold out venues such as The Acoustic Stage, Glastonbury and Vicar Street in Dublin. She is building a loyal fanbase on her weekly online show ‘Little Rooms, Big Music,’ live-streamed every Friday from her living room since June 2020. Vickie has released four singles since 2020, all of which have been playlisted on RTÉ Radio One. Her most recent single ‘All Because I Could Not Sleep’ is currently on the RTÉ Playlist. John Creedon has said of Victoria, “I think this woman is quite brilliant. She has a beautiful voice.” Fiachna O’Braonáin of ‘Late Date’ said of the song, ‘it’s absolutely brilliant.’ Victoria is currently recording her debut album, which is a concept album, with Brian Casey of Wavefield Recording Studios in Clonakilty.
